Hello, I’m Samira.

I am a facilitator, researcher and writer based in Singapore
I am curious about the politics of space. My work attempts to invite people to rethink their relationship to place, starting with how they pay attention to it.
This has taken the form of data investigations, counter-mapping with communities and participatory workshops.
I think a lot about activist cultures and how people from different contexts build solidarity with each other. For the past three years, my friends and I have organised retreats where organisers and activists come together to talk about care and exchange strategies in movement spaces.
I am interested in exchanges between Southeast Asia, South Asia and the rest of the world, from the Bangladeshi diaspora in Southeast Asia to Afro-Asian affinities and solidarities. I am currently writing a book chapter on the 1956 Afro-Asian students’ conference.
